GigaExplorer was created by BigPixel (Shanghai Jingkun Technology). As a pioneer in ultra-large-pixel and hundred-billion-pixel photography worldwide, it is The Gigapixel World Explorer—a platform for discovering world cities through gigapixel panoramas.
Since 2014, BigPixel has been exploring a question that sounds simple yet is deeply ambitious: How can ultra-high-resolution imagery help people see the world again—in ways never possible before?
Ordinary photographs freeze a single moment. Gigapixel super panoramas turn viewing into an exploration journey led by the user. On GigaExplorer, you can begin with a sweeping city skyline and keep zooming into streets, architectural details, and everyday life tucked into quiet corners—experiencing a city’s full scale inside one image.
Over more than a decade, BigPixel has created globally influential milestone works such as the 195 Gigapixel Panorama of Shanghai and See China in 100 Billion Pixels. These works have long gone beyond traditional photography and have been widely covered by leading international media including The New York Times, France 24, and Seeker. They have also repeatedly been commissioned by China’s State Council Information Office, the Publicity Department of the CPC Central Committee, and other official bodies—serving as a cultural calling card of China at Expo Milano 2015, and leading a special exhibition in Rome during the Chinese President’s visit to Europe in 2019.

Bob Li is the founder of BigPixel (Shanghai Jingkun Technology) and the creator of the GigaExplorer super-panorama project.
With decades of experience across the multimedia industry, he has long worked at the intersection of photography, programming, video, visual design, and digital experience—continually exploring what becomes possible when technology meets imagery.
He believes the value of technology is not only making photographs sharper, but creating an entirely new way of seeing—capturing a city’s soul, breath, and the arc of an era in full.
Through super-panorama photography, Bob brings together creativity, technology, and visual expression, aiming to push beyond the boundaries of traditional photography.
His vision is simple: let everyone explore the world more clearly.
